10th Day of Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan Observed in Mogto-Bongkhar Block

Mogto (Arunachal Pradesh) : The 10th day of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) was successfully observed today across Mogto, Gongkhar, Bongleng, and Kharung Villages under the Mogto-Bongkhar Block in Tawang District, Arunachal Pradesh. The programme was spearheaded by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tawang, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Horticulture, Tawang and ICAR-NRC on Yak, Dirang.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from Gaonburahs, PRI members, public leaders, and farmers of the region. At the main venue in Mogto, Dr. A.N. Tripathi, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Tawang, briefed attendees on the aims and objectives of VKSA and outlined the various initiatives undertaken by KVK for the benefit of the local farming community.
Dr. M. Jatana from NRC on Yak delivered an informative session on silage making, while K.B. Kayastha, Entomologist, elaborated on the Central Sector Schemes (CSS) and State-Sponsored Programmes being implemented for the welfare of farmers. He also encouraged the adoption of Natural Farming practices for sustainable soil health management and increased crop productivity.
Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, Thuten Tashi, Public Leader of Mogto block, emphasized the importance of scientific farming techniques. He also urged the scientists from NRC on Yak and KVK Tawang to conduct training programmes and field demonstrations in Mogto Circle to help farmers benefit from recent research and advancements.
During the interactive session, Lakshmipriya Borah, SMS (Plant Protection), discussed effective methods for managing bacterial wilt in chillies and highlighted the importance of seed treatment. Dr. Divya Pandey, SMS (Community Science), stressed the need for value addition of vegetables to improve farm income.
A significant highlight of the day was the distribution of Soil Health Cards to farmers by the Chief Guest, a key step toward promoting soil health awareness and better nutrient management.
The programme concluded with a field visit to Gongkhar village, where scientists and agriculture officers interacted with local farmers, assessed crop conditions, and provided practical guidance.
This collaborative initiative reflects the continued commitment of KVK Tawang and allied departments to empower farmers through science-based interventions and capacity-building efforts under the banner of VKSA.
