1992 Batch IPS Officer Satish Golcha Appointed as Delhi Police Commissioner

New Delhi: The Central government has appointed 1992 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Satish Golcha as the new Commissioner of Police, Delhi.

Golcha, who has held several key positions in the Delhi Police and other security agencies, will now head the national capital’s police force. He moves to the position of chief of police in the national capital after serving, most recently, as its director general for prisons. He took up that post last year, with the high-profile Tihar Jail, and the Mandoli and Rohini prisons among others, under his supervision. Before that he was deputed as Special Commissioner of Police (Intelligence) in Delhi.

An officer of the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory) cadre, Golcha has extensive experience in law and order management, crime prevention, and counter-terrorism operations. His appointment comes at a crucial time when Delhi faces complex challenges related to security, law enforcement, and public safety.
