Expert opinions from leading doctors at Cancer screening and awareness camp for women in Vasant Kunj

New Delhi: In India, the incidence of Cervical and Breast Cancer is rising steadily, with lifestyle factors playing a significant role. It is crucial for women to stay informed about their health as the increased awareness enables them to better safeguard themselves against disease like cancer.

On the occasion of social worker Anand Prakash Jain’s sixth death anniversary, a cancer awareness and screening camp was organised at the D3, Vasant Kunj Community Center by Mrs. Rachna Naresh Jain. The event saw participation from over a hundred women and was conducted in collaboration with Vardhman Recycling and the National Association of Mentors for Adolescent Health.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Seema Prakash, from GTB Hospital and President of the National Association of Mentors for Adolescent Health, explained the intricacies of Breast and Cervical cancer. She urged women to take a few minutes from their daily routines for themselves and to contact their doctors immediately if they experience any discomfort.

Organiser of the cancer awareness and screening camp, Mrs. Rachna Naresh Jain voiced her concern over reports showing that women, who carry the full burden of managing households, are becoming increasingly ill. She highlighted that the event was created by women for women and expressed her pleasure at the active participation of many women.

 

Doctors from AIIMS, GTB Hospital, MASSCH Hospital, and Safdarjung Hospital provide comprehensive information to women

At the medical screening and awareness camp, doctors including Dr. Seema Prakash, Dr. Rajeshwari, Dr. Nitasha Gupta, Dr. Bhanupriya from GTB Hospital, Dr. Nilanchali Singh, Dr. Neha Varun, Dr. Anju Singh from AIIMS, Dr. Srishti Prakash from Safdarjung Hospital, and Dr. Rashmi Shreya from MASSCH Hospital discussed menstrual hygiene and health issues. They also advocated for open conversations about health issues within the home and stressed that making lifestyle changes can help prevent many illnesses. Seeking early medical advice simplifies treatment if a condition does arise.

In response to a question, social worker Mrs. Rachna Naresh Jain stated that several Breast Cancer screening camps had been held previously. Doctors urged women not to overlook changes at every stage of life and to inform daughters and daughters-in-law about hormonal changes over time. Doctors advised against relying on Google or YouTube for treatment information and recommended consulting with medical professionals.
