Mithila Will Blossom with Maa Janaki Temple: Dr. Dhananjay Giri
Patna/New Delhi: August 8 has now become a historic day not just for Mithila, but for the entire nation. In Punauradha, Sitamarhi, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah formally laid the foundation stone of a grand temple dedicated to Maa Sita, the Mother of the Universe, with full religious rituals. This magnificent temple will be built at the very site believed to be the birthplace of Maa Sita. Alongside him, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also participated in the foundation stone ceremony.
BJP spokesperson Dr. Dhananjay Giri described the day as no less than a festival for Mithila and the whole of Bihar. “The streets are decorated, the air is filled with the beat of drums and nagaras, and every face radiates the joy of welcoming Maa Sita. Women are singing traditional mangal geet, the youth are brimming with energy, and the elderly carry a glow of pride and satisfaction in their eyes. This is not just a temple’s foundation; it is a cultural renaissance,” he said. The Bihar government has allocated over ₹1,000 crore for the construction of the Janaki Temple and land acquisition for the project.
Responding to a question, Dr. Giri stated that the grand, divine, and splendid Maa Janaki Temple coming up in Punauradha will not only be a center of religious faith but will also write a new chapter of heritage, tourism, and development for generations to come. The land of Mithila, regarded as the birthplace of Goddess Sita, will now shine more prominently on the global cultural map.
Highlighting various aspects, Dr. Giri emphasized that this temple will not merely be a structure of bricks and stones, but a living symbol of Mithila’s culture, dignity, and feminine divinity. “Every step of a devotee here will resonate with blessings, every wall will narrate a story of history, and every corner will radiate Maa Janaki’s grace,” he said.
He further added that while political debates will continue in their own place, the truth remains that Bihar today stands united in celebration under the name of Maa Sita. “When tradition and development walk together, the outcome is a confluence of devotional fervor and hope for the future.”
