Air India B787 Dreamliner Crashes Shortly After Takeoff in Ahmedabad; Rescue Operations Underway

 

 

 

 

Ahmedabad (Gujrat): A major aviation tragedy struck Ahmedabad, Gujarat on Thursday morning as an Air India B787 Dreamliner aircraft (VT-ANB), operating flight AI-171 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff. The aircraft was carrying a total of 242 people, including 2 pilots and 10 cabin crew members.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed the incident, stating that the aircraft crashed near a residential area shortly after takeoff, reportedly due to a technical malfunction. The flight was under the command of Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, with First Officer Clive Kundar as co-pilot.

Thick plumes of smoke were seen rising from the crash site, causing panic among local residents. Fire engines, ambulances, and other emergency services rushed to the scene, and rescue and relief operations are currently underway. Efforts are being made to evacuate trapped passengers from the wreckage.

NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) teams are also active at the site, assisting local police in transporting injured passengers to nearby hospitals. The crash has caused damage to several nearby houses, although authorities have yet to release official casualty figures.

Government agencies and senior Air India officials are monitoring the situation closely. The Prime Minister’s Office and the Union Home Ministry have been briefed and are keeping a close watch on developments.

This tragic accident has shaken the nation, and the government has assured a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the crash. Meanwhile, condolences and prayers are pouring in from across the country for those affected by the incident.
