Akhilesh Yadav Claims – Bengal and UP Will Both Lose !

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday expressed support for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, asserting that the BJP’s “conspiracy” would fail. Speaking to journalists in Lucknow, Yadav claimed that the BJP would lose both the 2026 West Bengal elections and the 2027 Uttar Pradesh elections.

Akhilesh Yadav said, “Mamata Banerjee will win West Bengal with a massive majority. The BJP conspires everywhere, but this time their conspiracy will fail. First, they will lose in Bengal, and then they will also lose in Uttar Pradesh.”

With the upcoming Assembly elections, political activity in West Bengal has intensified. During his Kolkata visit, Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged BJP workers in the state to actively prepare for the elections. In a press conference, Shah said that over the past 14 years, West Bengal has become associated with fear and corruption. He also questioned Mamata Banerjee about the alleged infiltration of illegal immigrants into the state and accused her government of denying land for border fencing. Amit Shah also chaired a meeting of BJP MLAs and MPs in Kolkata.

On the occasion of TMC’s foundation day, Mamata Banerjee hit back at Shah by comparing him to Dushasana from the Mahabharata. She reiterated the party’s commitment to “Mother, Land, and People” and pledged to continue fighting for the common people.

Akhilesh Yadav also targeted Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, alleging that he was encouraging Election Commission officials to manipulate figures in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.

Speaking in Lucknow, Yadav said, “When the Chief Minister claims that four crore votes were removed according to his count, he is essentially asking officials to manipulate the figures. Current data shows that the Election Commission and its officials must prove their credibility. If any discrepancies are found between the state government and the SIR data, the Commission will have to reconsider the entire SIR process.”

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists has remained a controversial issue in the state, with the Samajwadi Party alleging electoral malpractice.
