Alliance Not Broken Yet, Decision Lies with High Command: Congress Leader Salman Khurshid in Muzaffarnagar
Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh): The political landscape in Uttar Pradesh is once again abuzz with discussions about the future of the alliance between the Congress and the Samajwadi Party. Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid made a significant statement on Sunday, asserting that the alliance is still intact.
While addressing a public gathering, Khurshid said, “Our alliance has not broken yet. When we fought the elections together, everyone saw the success we achieved. The roles of both the Congress and Samajwadi Party in that victory are well understood. Keeping that in mind, the high command will take a decision.”
His remarks come at a time when speculation is rife about rifts within the opposition bloc I.N.D.I.A. and strategic planning is underway for the upcoming assembly elections.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress and Samajwadi Party had joined forces in Uttar Pradesh to challenge the BJP and managed to secure victories on several seats. In this context, Khurshid’s statement holds particular importance regarding the future of the alliance.
He further stated that the combined strength of both parties demonstrated that winds of change are blowing across Uttar Pradesh, and public sentiment is leaning towards the opposition.
Political analysts believe that Salman Khurshid’s comments indicate efforts to revive and strengthen the alliance ahead of the upcoming state elections. All eyes are now on the top leadership of both Congress and the Samajwadi Party to see what decisions they make in the coming days.
