Antagonism towards Vande Mataram reflects a traitorous mindset: VHP

New Delhi : Dr. Surendra Jain, Central Joint General Secretary of the Vishva Hindu Parishad, today said that those who do battle with Vande Mataram under the guise of religion should overcome their traitorous mindset. This discordant mindset against “Bharat First” laid the foundation for the country’s ‘Majhabi’ partition. It can never be accepted now.
He said that the entire nation expresses gratitude to the revered Rishi Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, the author of the national song Vande Mataram. For the past 150 years, this Maha-Mantra of Bharatiya Nationalism has been the quintessence, nerve centre and catalyst of national consciousness. This Rashtra Mantra – Vande Mataram continues to inspire everyone, young and old, to this day. During the Bang Bhang Movement, not just Bengal, but the entire country united with this Mantra Udghosh. Hindus and Muslims were together in fighting, and surely the nucleus of this movement was Vande Mataram, which everyone continued to sing together until 1907.
Dr. Jain said that the British were troubled by the success of the “Bang-Bhang Movement”. To create Hindu-Muslim divisions, they selected individuals within the Muslim leadership who could join their voices with the British. Therefore, when they banned Vande Mataram in 1907, some Muslim leaders in the Congress party, who previously had no hesitation and puzzlement in singing the Vande Mataram, began protesting against Vande Mataram for the first time in 1908 CE. To appease Muslims, the then Congress leadership bowed down and tore this song dedicated to Maa Bhaarati limb from limb. Unfortunately, since that day, some people, trapped in a knuckled down mindset, have been acting at their behest and continuing to clash with Vande Mataram, while others have been continuing to voice this antagonism.
He said that Vande Mataram remains a source of inspiration for entire Bharat even today. Even today, those who are suffering from the British colonial mentality, are protesting against Vande Mataram, and also those are opposing the nationalist song who believe that their politics and policies of appeasement would garner for them the Muslim vote bank. The rabid antipathy being shown by some members of the Muslim leadership today is very unfortunate.
The Vishva Hindu Parishad believes that opposing Vande Mataram is nothing less than an anti-national stance, double-dealing and fifth-columnism. The Maha Yajna of the great independence movement was going on, but there was no ‘Mantra’ for that Maha Yagna. Bankim Chandra saw that Mantra and gave it to the nation which is why he is revered as a ‘Rishi’. Therefore, let us all come together to break free from British colonial slavery and as protagonists contribute to the creation of a new, strong Bharat by proclaiming and singing this mantra of national consciousness, unity and integrity!
