Axiom-4 Mission Postponed for the Fourth Time; Indian Astronaut Shubhangshu Shukla’s Space Journey Delayed Again
New Delhi : The much-anticipated space journey of Indian astronaut Group Captain Shubhangshu Shukla has been postponed once again. The launch of the Axiom-4 mission has now been delayed for the fourth time, with the reason cited being a technical glitch in the rocket.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) confirmed the postponement, stating that the launch has been deferred due to safety concerns and ongoing technical evaluations. A new launch date will be announced soon.
The Axiom-4 mission, in collaboration with U.S.-based Axiom Space, is aimed at sending a crew to the International Space Station (ISS), with Group Captain Shubhangshu Shukla serving as the primary mission pilot from India. This mission marks a significant milestone for India’s private space sector involvement in human spaceflight.
Repeated delays, however, have dampened the enthusiasm among not only the scientific community but also aspiring young space enthusiasts. Shubhangshu Shukla has garnered widespread attention across India, as he is the first fighter combat leader and test pilot from the Indian Air Force to be selected for a commercial space mission.
ISRO emphasized that mission safety remains the highest priority, and no launch will proceed until all technical issues are resolved. Experts note that such delays are not uncommon in space missions and are often part of the stringent safety protocols required for successful execution.
All eyes are now on when the next launch window will be scheduled and when Shubhangshu Shukla will embark on his historic journey into space.
