Bhartiya Kisan Sangathan Calls Ongoing Protests in Ghaziabad’s Wave City “Illegal”

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) : The Bhartiya Kisan Sangathan (BKS) has condemned the ongoing protests in Wave City, which is poised to become the country’s most advanced hi-tech city, terming them illegal and driven by so-called external political leaders.

In a letter addressed to the District Magistrate of Ghaziabad, BKS District President and Meerut Division In-charge Lokesh Nagar stated that the protests are unauthorized and are not representative of the local farmers. The organization emphasized that the terms of the original agreement signed between the farmers and the company in May 2014 were fully accepted by the company.

According to the letter, another agreement dated October 20, 2024, was also honored by the company, with continued property registrations and development works being carried out as per the agreed conditions.

The letter further claimed that a few individuals were demanding additional plots for land they had already sold at high prices, which does not align with the 2014 agreement. “That agreement was mutually decided between us, and the current protests hold no legal ground,” the letter read. It added that approximately 250 farmers had signed the October 21, 2024 agreement, expressing complete satisfaction with the terms, and the current protest does not reflect their sentiment.

External Political Interference Alleged
The letter also accuses certain outside political leaders of inciting unrest under the guise of farmer interests, engaging in activities like intimidation, road blockades, and harassment of employees. Wave City employees have reported that small groups of self-proclaimed farmer leaders regularly stage protests at the gates, shouting slogans and misbehaving with staff.

The Wave City management has also issued a statement alleging that these external elements are deliberately rejecting agreed terms in order to blackmail the company for extortion.

The Bhartiya Kisan Sangathan reiterated its support for the agreements signed in 2014 and 2024 and firmly opposed the ongoing disruptive demonstrations.
