Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Announces 125 Units of Free Electricity Per Month
Patna (Bihar): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday interacted with electricity consumers across the state via video conferencing from ‘Sankalp’ at 1, Anne Marg. He announced that under the Electricity Consumer Assistance Scheme, all domestic consumers will now receive 125 units of free electricity per month, a provision that has already come into effect.
During the event, women consumers from Supaul, Nalanda, Muzaffarpur, and Gaya shared that the savings from this scheme are being used for education, healthcare, and household expenses. The Chief Minister said that nearly 18.9 million domestic consumers in the state will directly benefit from this initiative.
Highlighting the progress in the power sector, Nitish Kumar recalled that the electricity situation was extremely poor in 2005, but now power has reached every village. He confirmed that from July, this relief has been implemented in the bills of all eligible consumers. He also announced a new plan to promote solar energy and extend its benefits to interested domestic consumers.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav also addressed the gathering, which saw participation from millions of people online from all districts.
