Bihar’s Most Wanted Sigma Gang Leader Ranjan Pathak Killed in Encounter

New Delhi: In a major incident, four of Bihar’s most wanted gangsters were killed in an encounter in Rohini, Delhi. The joint operation was conducted by the Delhi Police Crime Branch and the Bihar Police. Among the deceased was Ranjan Pathak, the notorious gang leader. The encounter occurred early morning around 2:20 AM on Bahadur Shah Marg, when a shootout broke out between the gangsters and the police.

Ranjan Pathak, the infamous head of the ‘Sigma and Company’ gang, was killed in this encounter along with three other most-wanted gangsters. The operation was a coordinated effort by the Delhi Police Crime Branch and the Bihar Police.

Pathak, the mastermind of the violent criminal organization ‘Sigma and Company’, was primarily active in Sitamarhi district of Bihar, extending his influence to Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and even the Nepal border areas. At just 25 years of age, he had rapidly emerged as a notorious gangster responsible for several high-profile murders and violent crimes. Under his leadership, the gang was involved in extortion, contract killings, and illegal arms supply.

Following the murder of Aditya Singh in Bajpatti, Pathak’s gang also killed Madan Kushwaha, brother-in-law of the Poroha Panchayat head Rani Devi, as well as Ram Manohar Sharma, the district head of Brahmarshi Sena. Pathak publicly claimed responsibility for these killings and issued a leaflet identifying his gang as ‘Sigma and Company’.

In the neighboring district of Shivhar, Pathak and his gang carried out the daylight murder of Guddu Jha. During the incident, several members of his gang were injured in a clash with the Sitamarhi Police and Special Task Force (STF), but Pathak managed to escape. He had multiple cases registered against him across district police stations, including murder, robbery, and extortion.

With this series of murders, Ranjan Pathak had become a major challenge for law enforcement agencies. Police had been monitoring his gang for several months and had identified their hideouts in Delhi.

Ahead of the Bihar elections, this operation was carefully planned to ensure election security and to prevent any major criminal activity.
