BJP’s Stain on Democracy: Violence at the Sacred Grounds of Sadaqat Ashram
New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP and Deputy Leader of Opposition Pramod Tiwari has strongly condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), calling today’s incident a “deep stain on Indian democracy.”
Tiwari said that Sadaqat Ashram—the hallowed site of India’s freedom struggle and the place where the nation’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, breathed his last—was desecrated with violence and bloodshed by BJP’s “goons.”
According to him, Congress workers were deliberately attacked while the administration stood by as a silent spectator. He stated, “This is not only an assault on democracy but also a blatant violation of constitutional values. The Congress did not bow before the British, and today it will never bow before authoritarian forces like the BJP.”
Highlighting the symbolic importance of Bihar, Tiwari said, “From the land of Mahatma Gandhi’s Champaran Satyagraha, Rahul Gandhi has embarked on a march to defend the Constitution and the rights of every voter. Just as a revolution happened then, one will happen today too—through peaceful and democratic means.”
He added that while Congress remains the true guardian of democracy and people’s rights, the BJP has chosen the path of violence and repression. Tiwari appealed to citizens across the nation to extend their blessings, support, and solidarity to Rahul Gandhi in this crucial fight for the Constitution and for every Indian’s voting rights.
