CAG Report Reveals ₹70,000 Crore Scam, Pawan Khera Slams Nitish-Modi Government
Patna (Bihar): Ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, the Congress has launched a scathing attack on the NDA government in the state. Senior party leader and head of the media department, Pawan Khera, held a press conference in Patna today, targeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the Modi-led central government. He said that the CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) report has exposed financial irregularities amounting to over ₹70,000 crore.
Khera alleged that several departments of the Bihar government failed to submit Utilization Certificates (UCs), indicating large-scale irregularities. He highlighted that the biggest scam was found in the Panchayati Raj Department, where irregularities worth ₹28,154 crore have been reported. Additionally:
Education Department: ₹12,623 crore
Urban Development Department: ₹11,065 crore
Rural Development Department: Over ₹7,800 crore
Mocking the government, Khera said, “The same government that demands proof of every scheme and benefit from the people is unwilling to provide any account of its own schemes. This is a betrayal of public trust.”
He demanded the resignation of the ministers involved and said that if Bihar truly needs change, it must begin with changing the government. Taking a dig at government programs like SEZ (Special Economic Zones) and Industrial Revival initiatives, he added, “Bihar’s governance model is being ridiculed across the country.”
Congress’s aggressive stance is being seen as a strategic move to push the government onto the back foot ahead of the assembly elections.
