Capacity Building and Input Distribution Programme Held at Tawang

 

Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh) : The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tawang, in collaboration with the ICAR–National Bureau of Agriculturally Important Microorganisms (NBAIM), Kushmaur, Uttar Pradesh; the Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland; and the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, organized a Capacity Building and Input Distribution Programme under the NEH Component at Zomkhang Hall, Tawang.
Namgey Tsering, Hon’ble MLA of Tawang, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Among other dignitaries present were Rinchin Leta, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tawang; Tenzin Monpa, Public Leader; Dr. Anchal Srivastava, Agricultural Scientist, NBAIM, Mau (Uttar Pradesh); Saifor Rehman,

District Horticulture Officer, Tawang; Pema Dechen, District Agriculture Officer, Tawang; Pema Chowang, President, MMT Tawang Unit; Subject Matter Specialists from KVK Tawang, and a large number of farmers from the district.
During the programme, agricultural tools, vermicompost kits, and various agricultural and horticultural inputs were distributed to the participating farmers.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Namgey Tsering urged farmers to adopt the knowledge and techniques shared by the experts. He encouraged them to pursue organic farming, announcing that Tawang will soon be declared an Organic District. He also appealed to KVK and allied departments to continue extending technical handholding and scientific support to farmers for improved productivity and enhanced income. Expressing his gratitude, the MLA described farmers as the backbone of society and

felicitated the senior-most farmer with a khada and shawl in recognition of their contributions.
Earlier, Dr. Anchal Srivastava from ICAR–NBAIM, Mau, delivered a detailed presentation on the objectives and significance of the capacity building and input distribution initiative. He also introduced an organic formulation developed by NBAIM to enhance crop yield and soil health.
Dr. Anjanand Tripathy, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Tawang, welcomed the dignitaries and participants. In his address, he urged farmers to utilize the services and expertise of KVK for improving crop productivity and managing pests and diseases through scientific practices.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Lakshmipriya Borah, SMS, KVK Tawang, who expressed gratitude to all guests, collaborators, and participating farmers for making the programme a success.
