Capacity Building Workshop for Beneficiaries under Vibrant Village Programme Held at Tawang

Tawang: A one-day workshop on Capacity Building of Beneficiaries under the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP) for the establishment of milch dairy units and fodder development in selected vibrant villages of Tawang District was successfully conducted today at Zomkhang Hall, Tawang.
Tenzin Monpa, ZPM, Kyidphel Block, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present included the Secretary, AHV & Dairy Development, Government of Arunachal Pradesh (GoAP) YVV Rajashekhar, IAS the Deputy Commissioner, Tawang; Dr. Danjan Longri, Director, AHV & Dairy Development, GoAP; Col. Lokesh Sharma, ASC, Indian Army; and the Joint Director, AHV & Dairy Development, Dr.T.Taggu.
Dr. Danjan Longri, Director of AHV & Dairy Development, GoAP, delivered the welcome address and provided a brief keynote highlighting the importance of strengthening dairy farming in the region and empowering local farmers through scientific practices and institutional support. Dr. Seba Yomdo, Assistant Nodal Officer of VVP, GoAP, presented an overview of the scheme. He informed the gathering that selected beneficiaries will be provided with three high-yielding milch cows, fodder seeds, and bio-fertilizers to support sustainable fodder production and enhance milk productivity. In his address, Col. Lokesh Sharma emphasized that the Indian Army could serve as a reliable and assured market for locally produced milk. He noted that the Army requires nearly 15,000 litres of milk daily, which could potentially be supplied by local
farmers if dairy cooperative societies and milk unions are formed and strengthened in the district. The Secretary, AHV & Dairy Development, GoAP, stated that the workshop was organized to create awareness and provide preliminary technical guidance to the selected beneficiaries before the implementation of the scheme. On behalf of the Government, he assured full support to farmers and encouraged them to adopt scientific dairy farming practices such as Artificial Insemination, improved housing systems, and better herd management.
Chief Guest Tenzin Monpa expressed gratitude to the Government for selecting beneficiaries from the district under the Vibrant Village Programme. He encouraged farmers to make the most of the opportunity and highlighted that Tawang, being a predominantly Buddhist district with strong values of non-violence, has significant
potential for dairy farming and livestock development. He also assured continued support from the Panchayati Raj Institutions in making the scheme successful.
The technical session of the workshop was conducted by Dr. Lalit Barot, Technical Officer from National Dairy Services, who delivered an informative presentation on building a profitable dairy enterprise. His session focused on proper management of dairy cows, improved feeding practices, and the scientific care and management of newborn calves.
The programme concluded with the distribution of fodder seeds, bio-fertilizers, and participation certificates to the beneficiaries, marking an important step towards strengthening dairy-based livelihoods in the vibrant villages of Tawang District.
