Clashing with India Proves Costly for Pakistan, Even Old Allies Turn Against It
New Delhi/Islamabad: Pakistan is facing setbacks on all fronts due to repeated ceasefire violations and malicious drone attack attempts against India. Following India’s strong response, even longtime allies like the United States and China appear to be distancing themselves from Pakistan. Former U.S. President Donald Trump claimed he had threatened to cut off trade with both India and Pakistan, prompting Pakistan to enforce a ceasefire. However, India rejected this claim outright. Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif publicly thanked Trump, which enraged China. Reportedly, Chinese President Xi Jinping personally called Islamabad to express his anger and warned of halting all economic aid and projects if Pakistan continued to ignore China’s support while praising the U.S.
Under this dual pressure—India’s military pushback and growing discontent from China and the U.S.—Pakistan’s position has started to weaken. Experts say it’s time for Pakistan to seriously reconsider its foreign policy and strategic approach.
