Congress Preparing to Contest Alone in Bengal, No Alliance Considered

Kolkata (West Bengal) : In preparation for the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal, the Congress high command has directed the party to strengthen its organization across all 294 constituencies. The leadership has decided to gear up for the electoral battle without considering any alliance with the Trinamool Congress or the Left parties.

A senior Bengal Congress leader stated on Thursday that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and K.C. Venugopal have discussed this matter with state Congress leaders.

The Congress high command has instructed the West Bengal unit to reinforce the organization and intensify its movements. According to sources, most state Congress leaders have advocated contesting all 294 seats. However, the high command has not given immediate approval to this demand and has instead emphasized further strengthening the party’s organizational structure.

State Congress leaders were also informed that either Rahul Gandhi or Priyanka Gandhi might visit Kolkata soon to meet the parents of the victim from R.G. Kar Hospital.

The Congress leadership is currently reviewing the status of weak states and focusing on them strategically. Over the past two years, due to electoral engagements, Bengal Congress could not concentrate on strengthening its organization. Now, the party’s top leadership will conduct regular visits to the state.
