Delhi Government to Launch Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign: Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh Announces

New Delhi : Delhi’s Minister for Social Welfare, Ravindra Indraj Singh, has announced that on June 26, to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Delhi Government will launch a comprehensive awareness campaign. The initiative will include street plays (nukkad nataks), poster exhibitions, motivational talks, and active student participation.

The Minister stated that the campaign will be conducted jointly by the Department of Social Welfare, Delhi Police, and the Education Department, with a special focus on reaching out to marginalized and vulnerable sections of society.

During a review meeting, Minister Singh emphasized, “To achieve the goal of a drug-free, healthy, and empowered Delhi, coordinated efforts among departments are essential.” He added that drug addiction affects not just individuals but entire families—physically, mentally, and financially.

The government has identified 64 sensitive locations across the national capital where street plays will be organized to spread awareness. Additionally, school students will be engaged through interactive programs, radio jingles, and video messages in cinema halls to reinforce the campaign’s message.

“Youth involvement is crucial,” said the Minister, highlighting that students from the National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) will also participate actively in the campaign.

At the district level, social welfare teams have been instructed to work in collaboration with local MLAs and district magistrates to ensure the campaign is impactful and reaches every corner of the city.

Concluding the announcement, Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh remarked, “This is not just a government initiative—it is a social movement. To bring about lasting change, we need the active participation of schools, civil society, and social organizations.”
