Delhi Van Mahotsav 2025: ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam – Season 2’ Launched, 7 Million Trees to Be Planted

New Delhi: In a landmark initiative for environmental conservation, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday launched the Delhi Van Mahotsav 2025 along with ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam – Season 2’. Speaking on the occasion, she said, “Today marks a new chapter in Delhi’s journey with the celebration of Van Mahotsav. Previous governments never took part in plantation drives nor showed any concern for Delhi’s environment. But now, our government is ensuring every citizen of Delhi becomes a participant in this mission. I extend my heartfelt wishes to all Delhiites.”

The Chief Minister added that the campaign is not just about increasing greenery but also carries an emotional message—planting a tree in honor of motherhood.

Delhi Government Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa echoed the sentiment, stating, “Delhi Van Mahotsav 2025 is a new milestone for the capital. Delhi can only develop if it turns green—when its citizens can breathe clean air. Today is a historic day as we begin the journey of planting 7 million trees, with active participation from every resident of Delhi.”

The government announced that this massive drive will include plantations across schools, colleges, parks, residential colonies, and public spaces. The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign aims to inspire people to plant trees in honor of their mothers and the spirit of motherhood.

The Delhi Government aims to make Delhi one of the leading cities in the country in terms of green cover by the end of 2025.
