Mumbai: Eurosport India, the premium sports channel of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), is set to enter into a three-year broadcast agreement with the Badminton Association of India (BAI) for the prestigious Yonex Sunrise India Open, covering the 2026, 2027 and 2028 editions of the tournament. The new deal marks a significant shift from the previous year-on-year arrangement, establishing a long-term partnership focused on sustained growth, consistency and enhanced fan engagement for one of India’s premier badminton events.

The partnership will commence with the Yonex Sunrise India Open 2026, scheduled to take place from January 13 to 18, 2026, in New Delhi. Under the agreement, Eurosport India will deliver comprehensive coverage of the tournament, ensuring fans across the country have access to world-class badminton featuring the sport’s biggest international stars and leading Indian shuttlers.

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Arjun Nowhar, SVP & Managing Director, India & South Asia, Warner Bros. Discovery, said, “This long-term partnership with the Badminton Association of India reflects our focus on building marquee sports properties through consistent, high-quality broadcast and storytelling. By committing to the Yonex Sunrise India Open over an extended period, we can move beyond event-led coverage and create sustained engagement for fans, athletes and partners alike. As a global media network, our strength lies in scale, reach and distribution that help place Indian sport more firmly on the international stage.”

Beyond live match coverage, the three-year collaboration will allow Eurosport India and the Badminton Association of India to work closely on promoting the India Open and broader BAI initiatives. The long-term nature of the agreement provides a stable platform to build storytelling around athletes, elevate the tournament’s profile, and strengthen badminton’s presence across broadcast and digital ecosystems.

Commenting on the association, Sanjay Mishra, General Secretary, Badminton Association of India, said, “The Yonex-Sunrise India Open has grown steadily over the years, both in terms of competition and audience interest. Partnering with Eurosport allows us to take the tournament to a wider television audience and ensure fans across the country can follow the action closely. This collaboration reflects the growing appetite for badminton in India and our commitment to making the sport more accessible.”

The renewed focus on continuity comes at an important time for the sport, with India set to host the 2026 BWF World Championships later in the year. Together, these marquee events position India firmly at the centre of the global badminton calendar and underscore the country’s growing stature as a host of world-class international competitions.

With this agreement, Eurosport India continues to expand its commitment to Indian sport, reinforcing its role as a trusted broadcast partner for premier national and international competitions. For BAI, the partnership offers long-term visibility and strategic alignment with a global sports broadcaster as Indian badminton continues its upward trajectory on the world stage.
