Film ‘Ground Zero’ Earns Only One Crore on Opening Day
New Delhi: Emraan Hashmi’s much-anticipated film Ground Zero has been making headlines over the past few days. Finally released on April 25, the film has received mixed reactions from both fans and critics. While some praised Ground Zero for its gripping narrative, others found the story less impressive. This divided reception is reflected in the film’s slow start at the box office.
Ground Zero is based on a true incident that took place in Kashmir in 2001. Emraan Hashmi plays the role of BSF officer Narendra Nath Dubey in the film. According to Sacnilk, Ground Zero managed to earn only ₹1 crore on its opening day.
At the box office, Ground Zero is facing stiff competition from Sunny Deol’s Jaat and Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter-2. Akshay’s film collected ₹4.25 crore on its eighth day, while Sunny Deol’s Jaat made ₹0.90 lakh on its 16th day.
The film showcases one of the biggest missions undertaken by the BSF in the last 50 years, with Emraan Hashmi’s character, Commander Narendra Nath Dubey, leading the operation. This marks the first time Emraan Hashmi is portraying an army officer on screen.
Ground Zero is directed by Tejas Deoskar and features a strong ensemble cast including Sai Tamhankar, Zoya Hussain, Mukesh Tiwari, Deepak Paramesh, Lalit Prabhakar, Rocky Raina, and Rahul Vohra in key roles.
