Former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s Husband Swaraj Kaushal Passes Away at 73; Former Governor of Mizoram

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced the passing of senior leader and husband of the late former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj, Swaraj Kaushal, on December 4, 2025. His last rites will be performed today, December 4, 2025, at the Lodhi Road Crematorium. Swaraj Kaushal was a former Governor of Mizoram and a senior advocate.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the former Mizoram Governor and senior advocate, Swaraj Kaushal. She said his contributions to public life and the legal field will always be remembered, and his service to the nation and society is unforgettable. She extended her condolences to MP Bansuri Swaraj and the entire family, praying for peace to the departed soul and strength for the family during this difficult time.
BJP Malviya Nagar MLA Satish Upadhyay said he was deeply saddened to hear about the sudden demise of the former Mizoram Governor and senior advocate, Swaraj Kaushal. He was the husband of the late Sushma Swaraj and the father of MP Bansuri Swaraj. Upadhyay added that Kaushal served the nation with integrity, intelligence, and unmatched dedication.
A distinguished legal expert and former Member of Parliament, Kaushal had an illustrious career in public life and the judiciary. His passing leaves a significant void in both political and legal circles.
