Patna (Bihar): The stream of leaders joining the Jan Suraaj Party continues to grow. In this sequence, former three-time JDU MLA from Govindganj constituency in East Champaran district, Meena Dwivedi, officially joined the Jan Suraaj Party on Wednesday, September 17, along with hundreds of her supporters. On the occasion, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor welcomed her into the party fold by presenting the party’s signature yellow scarf.

Dwivedi joined the party alongside several JDU district and block-level leaders and workers. Her entry is being seen as a boost for Jan Suraaj in the politics of Champaran.

Notably, Meena Dwivedi hails from a prominent political family in East Champaran. In 1995, her brother-in-law Devendra Nath Dubey was elected MLA from the Samata Party. In the 1998 by-election, her husband Bhupendra Nath Dubey became an MLA. Later, Meena Dwivedi herself won from JDU in the 2005 (February and November) and 2010 Assembly elections.
