From tradition to togetherness: Equinox’s IPL 2025 Ads celebrate cricket’s unifying power

Mumbai : As the excitement for TATA IPL 2025 builds up, Equinox Films is back in the game, ready to electrify cricket fans once again with its spectacular commercials. Having previously crafted memorable IPL campaigns like VIVO IPL 2019: Game Banayega Name and VIVO IPL 2021: Asli Picture Abhi Baaki Hai, Equinox returns with a fresh cinematic vision that celebrates the very pulse of the game. Directed by the talented Nitin Parmar and produced by Annum Waris with Manoj Shroff as the Executive Producer, these ads beautifully capture how TATA IPL bridges emotional gaps, transcends traditions, and unites people across distances—all while keeping the passion for cricket alive. Airing on Star Sports and JioHotstar, these films promise to deliver a heart-affirming experience.

The first commercial, ‘Mooh Dikhayi,’ set in a small Rajasthani village, follows a newlywed bride who never lifts her veil irrespective of the situation. Her in-laws and husband accept her shyness—until Rohit Sharma walks onto the IPL field. In an instinctive moment of excitement, her veil drops as she stands to turn up the TV volume, flipping the phrase ‘Sharam aave hai’ (I feel shy) into a joyful ‘(Rohit) Sharma aave hai!’ The ad cleverly showcases how IPL has a way of making people drop their inhibitions.

The second ad tells a quiet yet deeply moving story of a mother yearning to stay connected with her son who is far away. Late at night, her husband wakes up to the soft hum of cricket commentary and snaps to which she submissively responds by mispronouncing the technical words. Even more irritated now, he grumbles further asking her to shut it off, only to be met with a simple emotion – a mother’s longing for her son causing her to watch his favourite sport, giving her an excuse to speak to him just a little while longer. In a simple yet profound moment, he tells her, ‘Volume toh badha de.’ More than just words, it’s a silent acknowledgement of their shared love for their son—brought together by the magic of IPL.

Sharing his perspective, Nitin Parmar, who has directed the two ads, shared, “The two IPL films have very different genres. One has a very strong emotional core and the other is more of a celebration. However, the underlying goal for both was to make the storytelling feel very real and organic and devoid of any artifice. For this, we took a very humanist approach and I am very pleased with how the films have turned out.”

Annum Waris and Manoj Shroff, the Producers of the ads, say, “It is always a delight to collaborate with the creative team at Star Sports and bring to life a vision that transcends beyond just the face of the fans. They challenge us as storytellers to bring to screen a glimpse of the pulse felt by 600 million people globally. At Equinox Films, we have always believed in crafting stories that feel real, resonate deeply, and leave a lasting impact. With these films, we wanted to celebrate the unifying spirit of IPL in a way that is both heartfelt and entertaining.”

With relatable narratives and immersive visuals, these commercials capture the passion, energy, and spirit of IPL, delivering an unforgettable experience for audiences. In collaboration with Star Sports, Equinox promises a visual spectacle that will elevate the advertising content in TATA IPL 2025.
