Husband, Wife, and Accomplice Arrested for Honey Trap Robbery via Social Media
Aligarh (U.P.): In a major breakthrough, Aligarh police have busted a gang that used social media to lure people into a honey trap and then rob them. The police have arrested a husband-wife duo along with their accomplice, who jointly executed these crimes.
SP (Rural) Aligarh, Amrit Jain, stated that a victim had lodged a complaint at the police station. According to the complaint,
“A woman contacted him through Facebook, developed a romantic connection, and later invited him to Aligarh. Once he arrived, he was assaulted and robbed.”
Following swift action, the police arrested one woman and two men. During interrogation, it was revealed that the gang had carried out six to seven similar incidents in the past.
The accused confessed that they created fake profiles on social media, befriended individuals, and then lured them into meeting in person, where they were robbed of cash and valuables.
The police have expanded their investigation to identify other members of the gang. Efforts are also underway to contact other possible victims so that more such cases can come to light.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious while interacting with strangers on social media.
