Illegal Weapons Surrender Continues After Deadline Extension
Imphal (Manipur): Following the extension of the weapon surrender deadline by Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, the process of surrendering illegal weapons is continuously progressing. Police reported on Sunday that a total of 42 different types of weapons and a large quantity of ammunition have been surrendered in the districts of Imphal West, Churachandpur, Imphal East, Bishnupur, and Tamenglong.
In this process, CDO Bishnupur in Bishnupur district received a .303 rifle, double-barrel gun, SBBL, 36 HE grenades, country-made pistols, bulletproof jackets, helmets, walkie-talkies, and other military equipment.
At Kamai Police Station in Tamenglong district, locally made SBBL guns, pump guns, walkie-talkies, IEDs, locally made hand grenades, and ammunition were surrendered.
In Imphal East district, a 9mm pistol, INSAS rifle magazines, hand grenades, wireless sets, mortar bombs, SBBL guns, and cartridges, among other weapons, were surrendered.
At Churachandpur Police Station in Churachandpur district, a .303 rifle, 7.62mm lethal rifle, 12-bore rifle, locally made IEDs, bulletproof helmets and jackets, and grenades were surrendered.
Additionally, at Lamsang Police Station in Imphal West district, a .303 rifle, SLR rifle, stun shells, tear smoke shells, bulletproof helmets, magazines, and other weapons were surrendered.
The police have appealed to the public to voluntarily surrender any illegal weapons in their possession to help restore peace and stability in the state.
