Incomplete roads, drains, garbage, and darkness are increasing worries before the rainy season!
New Delhi : In West Delhi, Ward-111, the streets of Harphool Vihar and Jai Vihar in Baprola are facing serious waterlogging problems even after light rain these days. Unfinished roads and blocked drains have made life difficult for the residents. The condition is so bad that even before the monsoon starts, the roads are filled with mud and water. Piles of garbage and darkness in many lanes are making people feel unsafe. The public is constantly expressing their problems, but no one seems to be listening.
Especially in Gali Number 10, which connects the Harphool Vihar drain to the colony and goes up to Bajrang Chowk, the situation is worse. This road is a main route for daily office commuters and rickshaw drivers, but now it has become so damaged that it’s hard to walk on. Because of mud and potholes, rickshaws often overturn, injuring passengers. The previous government had started the road construction, but the work has stopped since the new government came in. Residents are still hoping the roads will be completed. This same road leads to the main road from the village, which is also incomplete. Due to the unfinished road, vehicles face a lot of difficulty.
The road from Bhima Garden to G Block is also in poor condition. Even light rain causes waterlogging here. The road from Chhath Ghat Road to F and G Blocks hasn’t been constructed past the transformer for many days. Water and mud collect during rains in that area too. The main road from Das Garden to Baprola village is also under slow construction. Many roads in the area are poorly maintained, which causes a lot of trouble for the people.
Sushil Dev, president of social group Panchkosi, said that many lanes are so broken that walking is hard. Many drains are either completely blocked or filled with garbage. If they’re not cleaned in time, things may get worse in the coming days. Garbage piles are seen in many places and are not being cleared properly. Streetlights have not worked for months, but the authorities aren’t paying attention. People are also complaining about sewer and drinking water problems, but no solutions are in sight. The public is very unhappy with their elected representatives, which is worrying.
It is known that local representatives recently held a meeting about these issues and promised solutions, but no action has been taken so far. The local RWA says that basic services like roads, drains, electricity, and water are rights of every citizen and the government should prioritize them. A local resident, S.K. Mandal, expressed concern that during the rainy season, water gets collected in the lane outside his home, increasing the risk of mosquitoes and diseases. Even the foundation of his house is getting affected. He has requested that, until a permanent solution is made, at least debris should be placed to give some relief from waterlogging. If action is not taken in time, the situation could become hellish during the monsoon. People are hoping the government and administration will act quickly on the ground and free them from this miserable condition.
