Indian Army Contingent Arrives in Mongolia for Multinational Exercise Khaan Quest 2025

New Delhi: An Indian Army contingent has arrived in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to participate in the multinational military exercise Khaan Quest 2025, scheduled to be held from June 14 to 28, 2025. This international exercise aims to foster cooperation among global military forces and enhance their peacekeeping capabilities. Khaan Quest was first initiated in 2003 as a bilateral exercise between the United States and the Mongolian Armed Forces. Since 2006, it has evolved into a multinational peacekeeping exercise, and the current edition marks its 22nd iteration.

The Indian contingent comprises 40 personnel, primarily from a battalion of the Kumaon Regiment, along with members from other units. Notably, the team includes one female officer and two female soldiers. The exercise is designed to prepare armed forces for peacekeeping operations under Chapter VII of the UN Charter. It emphasizes physical fitness, joint planning, and tactical coordination in a multinational environment.

Key drills include static and mobile checkpoints, cordon and search operations, patrolling, evacuation of civilians from conflict zones, counter-IED drills, battlefield first aid, and casualty evacuation. Khaan Quest provides a vital platform for participating nations to share best practices and enhance interoperability, camaraderie, and mutual respect among troops.
