IndiGo Adjusts Wide-body Network to Enhance Operational Resilience and Schedule Reliability

New Delhi : IndiGo, India’s preferred carrier, has announced adjustments and schedule revisions across its long-haul network to ensure seamless and reliable operations for customer convenience.

The airline’s widebody operations have recently been impacted by external operational constraints, including frequently changing airspace restrictions due to geopolitical developments and congestion at airports in India and overseas. These factors have significantly increased flight and block times, putting pressure on IndiGo’s Boeing 787-9 schedule, currently operated with six widebody aircraft.

To prevent customer inconvenience caused by misconnections and cascading delays, IndiGo has decided to implement immediate measures aimed at restoring on-time performance and operational reliability across its widebody network.

Following a comprehensive review, the airline has announced the following changes:

Suspension of Copenhagen Services

  • Effective 17 February 2026, IndiGo will suspend its operations to and from Copenhagen until further notice.

Reduction in Delhi–Manchester Services

  • From 07 February 2026, IndiGo will reduce Delhi–Manchester services from 5 weekly flights to 4 weekly flights.

  • From 19 February 2026, the frequency will be further reduced to 3 weekly flights.

  • As a result, total connectivity to and from Manchester will reduce from 9 weekly services to 7 weekly services.

  • This adjustment was originally planned for the Summer Schedule 2026 but has been advanced to ensure reliability across the long-haul network.

  • Days of operation will also be revised to allow better recovery time in operating patterns.

Background: Widebody Expansion Plan

As part of its international expansion strategy, IndiGo initiated a widebody project in March 2025 through a damp lease arrangement of six Boeing 787-9 aircraft from Norse Atlantic Airways. This move serves as an interim step ahead of the airline’s planned induction of its own Airbus A350-900 aircraft in early 2028, enabling a gradual strengthening of internal capabilities for long-term global expansion.

IndiGo acknowledged that prevailing external conditions have impacted operational reliability on its 787-9 routes. With these schedule adjustments, the airline aims to enhance the reliability of its long-haul services and minimize disruption to connecting itineraries. IndiGo will continue to monitor the evolving situation and adjust its network as needed to align with changing operational conditions.
