ITC Aashirvaad and Institute of Home Economics Celebrate National Nutrition Month with Seminar on Dietary Fibre
New Delhi: As part of National Nutrition Month celebrations, ITC Aashirvaad, in collaboration with Delhi University’s Institute of Home Economics (IHE), organized an educational seminar on “The Role of Dietary Fibre in Health.” Recent surveys show a rising trend of digestive health issues in India, with a large percentage of people not meeting the recommended daily fibre intake. According to the Aashirvaad Multigrain Happy Tummy Survey, 70% of respondents reported fibre deficiency — with women being more affected than men.
Experts, including AIIMS dietician Dr. Richa Jaiswal, emphasized the importance of fibre-rich foods in preventing non-communicable diseases like obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart conditions. She called for stronger awareness among future nutrition professionals.
ITC leaders highlighted their commitment to nutrition education through their “Help India Eat Better” strategy. The event also featured an inter-college recipe competition encouraging innovative, fibre-rich dishes using whole grains.
