“Jain Meal Day”: Message of restraint and honesty in the new generation, ‘A plate of restraint – one resolution for the society’

New Delhi :  With the aim of re-establishing the principles of Ahimsa (non-violence), Sanyam (self-restraint), and Satvikta (purity) of Jainism in society, internationally renowned Vastu expert, life coach, aura reader, astrologer, and social worker Manoj Jain has pledged to observe Jain Meal Day every year. On this special day, the entire Jain community is urged that every family, institution, temple, trust, and youth group should come together to partake in pure Satvik Jain food prepared without garlic and onions.

According to Manoj Jain, the purpose of this day is to spread awareness about mindful eating and to instill good values. It is also aimed at establishing the importance of Satvik living among children and youth. He emphasized that by adopting Jain values in daily life, people can naturally resolve many of their problems, while also strengthening unity and religious harmony.

He has suggested celebrating Jain Meal Day every year on Mahavir Jayanti, which marks the birth of Lord Mahavir and inspires self-restraint and dietary discipline. On this day, he proposed organizing community Jain feasts in temples, workshops on Satvik diets for children and youth, and launching a “One Plate of Restraint” campaign on social media.

Manoj Jain believes that for the future generation, we can leave behind a new tradition and a stronger culture — something that is both our duty and our privilege. He stressed the need to take the slogan “One Plate of Restraint – One Pledge for Society” to every citizen. This initiative, he says, will not only strengthen the message of Satvik living and self-restraint in the Jain community but also serve as an inspiring example of mindful eating in Indian culture.

Highlighting the current lifestyle challenges, Manoj Jain pointed out that today’s youth often face health problems, mental stress, and an imbalanced lifestyle. In such times, a Satvik and balanced diet not only improves physical health but also provides mental peace. Jain Meal Day can become a medium to spread awareness in this direction.
“One Plate of Restraint” is not just about food — it is a pledge to embrace compassion, environmental conservation, and self-discipline in our lives. This initiative also reminds society that food is not just a means to fill the stomach but also influences our thoughts and actions.

Addressing a grand JITO event, Manoj Jain called upon the Jain community to celebrate Jain Meal Day, urging everyone to dedicate at least one day a year to honoring the importance of pure Jain food and passing it on to future generations.

He stressed that such events should not be confined within religious or cultural boundaries but should be adopted as a health- and environment-friendly lifestyle. If every family takes a pledge to have Satvik food even one day a week, it can bring positive change not only to individual health but also to society as a whole.
