Kangana Ranaut is an Artist, No Need to Take Her Seriously: Industry Minister

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh): Himachal Pradesh Industry Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan has taken a dig at Bollywood actress and Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut, stating that there is no need to take her seriously as she is merely an artist.

Speaking to the media in Shimla on Monday after returning from the Congress national convention in Ahmedabad, Minister Chauhan said Kangana still appears to be playing an artist’s role even on political platforms. He claimed that her political personality is yet to develop and that despite being a Member of Parliament, she continues to make irresponsible statements. Referring to her recent comment calling the government “wolves,” he said she was only trying to create sensationalism.

Chauhan also alleged that Kangana had not paid her electricity bills for the past three months. Taking a jibe, he remarked that as an MP, she should understand her responsibilities and work for the development of her constituency instead of making baseless accusations from public platforms.

Key Decisions at the Congress Convention

Commenting on the Ahmedabad convention, Chauhan said the Congress party is focused on strengthening its organizational structure across the country. He shared that an important decision has been taken to increase the role of district presidents in ticket distribution. Additionally, a proposal has been put forward to increase the number of blocks in assembly constituencies, which will soon be decided by the party leadership.

Strict Measures Against Illegal Mining; Review of Power Subsidy

On the issue of illegal mining, Chauhan informed that the state government has implemented a new policy to curb such activities. Several raids have been conducted under the policy, and machinery used for illegal mining has been seized. He emphasized the government’s firm stance on the matter.

Regarding power subsidies given to industries, the minister said that currently, a subsidy of 40 paise per unit is being provided. He also mentioned that there has been a demand from industries to reinstate the night subsidy, which is under consideration by the state government. The matter is presently with the Chief Minister.
