Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 : Kashi-Tamil cultural performances mesmerise audiences at Namo Ghat

Varanasi (UP): On the 13th day of Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0, organised by the North Central Zone Cultural Centre, Prayagraj, in collaboration with the South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur, under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, a grand cultural programme was held on Sunday at the Muktakashi, Namo Ghat in Varanasi. Artists from Kashi and Tamil Nadu captivated the audience with their diverse and enchanting performances, showcasing the cultural unity and harmonious confluence of North and South India through their artistic expressions.
The cultural event began with a vocal performance by Shri Nishchal Kumar Upadhyay and his group from Varanasi, accompanied by Bhanushankar Chaubey on tabla and Divit Dubey on vocals. The second performance was presented by Dr. Poonam Sharma and her group, also from Varanasi. It opened with the devotional song “Nimiya ki Gachhiya…” and was followed by an enchanting rendition in the Dadra style, “Nahi Maro Nazariya ke Baan…”, which captivated the audience. The performance featured Rakesh Roshan on tabla, Amit on dholak, Sanjay on banjo, Rahul Kumar on pads and vocal accompaniment by Khushi Kumari, Angel Keshari, Kavya Mukherjee and Divya Sharma, creating a truly mesmerising musical experience.
The third performance featured traditional Kolattam and Karagam folk dances presented by Shri R. Satish and his troupe from Tamil Nadu, showcasing the vibrant folk traditions of South India. The fourth performance was a Bharatanatyam dance by Vaishnavi and her troupe from New Delhi. Vaishnavi, Lakshmi and Pranathini mesmerised the audience with their expressive classical dance movements. The fifth performance was a Kathak recital by Ms. Shivani Mishra and her troupe from Varanasi, with Shivani Mishra, Saurabh Tripathi, Karishma Kesari, Srishti Tiwari, Ranu Chaubey, Princy, Nausheen Ansari, Janhavi Rai, Surbhi Jais, and Ankit Kumar delivering a lively and engaging group performance. The sixth and final act saw Shri R. Satish and his troupe returning to the stage with the Dummy Horse (Poikkal Kuthirai Aattam) and Kavadi Attam folk dances, which thrilled and energised the audience.
