Grand Conclusion of Kashi–Tamil Sangamam 4.0 in Rameswaram after Beginning in Kashi
He explained that the theme of this year’s Sangamam is “Let’s Learn Tamil – Tamil Karakalam.” Learning Tamil, he said, is not merely about acquiring a language, but about opening the doors to India’s ancient knowledge, philosophy, and scientific traditions. Tamil literature offers profound insights into ethics, governance, mathematics, astronomy, medicine, ecology, architecture, and social systems.

Union Minister of State Dr. L. Murugan highlighted the centuries-old historical relationship between Kashi and Tamil Nadu, references to which are found in the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. Tamil Nadu Governor Shri R. N. Ravi said that the Kashi–Rameswaram connection dates back to the era of Lord Ram. He informed that under the ‘Tamil Karakalam’ initiative, around 300 students from Kashi visited Tamil Nadu to learn Tamil, while 50 teachers from Tamil Nadu went to Kashi to teach Tamil in schools.
Organized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, this was the fourth edition of Kashi–Tamil Sangamam, following three successful earlier editions. This year’s Sangamam was particularly significant as, for the first time, special emphasis was laid on systematically teaching Tamil to students from Uttar Pradesh.
The event further strengthened the ancient, multi-dimensional ties between Kashi and Tamil Nadu, taking forward the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ to new heights.
