Lathi-Charge on STET Aspirants in Patna, Students Demand Meeting with CM

Patna (Bihar): On Monday, police resorted to a lathi-charge on candidates protesting in the state capital Patna over the demand for the STET examination. The sudden use of force created chaos at the protest site, with police chasing and beating students. Several aspirants were injured in the incident.

Student Falls at Officer’s Feet
Amid the protest, an emotional scene unfolded when one aspirant fell at the feet of police officer M.H. Khan, pleading to be allowed to meet Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The student said that if they could meet the CM directly, they would be able to present their problems before him.

Aspirants Oppose Delay of STET till 2026
Protesters strongly opposed the government’s decision to postpone the STET examination until 2026, calling it an injustice to thousands of candidates. They argued that this move jeopardizes their employment opportunities despite years of preparation and hard work.

Heavy Police Deployment in Patna
Following the lathi-charge, heavy police deployment was made around Gandhi Maidan and routes leading to the CM’s residence. Student organizations have warned that their agitation will continue until the government takes a concrete decision on their demands.
