Launch of “Save Homes and Jobs Yatra”: Voices of Slum Dwellers Rise from Kabir Nagar

New Delhi: To strengthen the fight for the rights of millions living in Delhi’s slum settlements, the “Save Homes and Jobs Yatra” was flagged off today from Kabir Nagar in the Model Town Assembly constituency. This yatra represents the voices of those whose shelter and livelihood are under threat.

The campaign is being led by Saurabh Bharadwaj, Delhi State President of the Aam Aadmi Party. He was joined by Burari MLA Shri Sanjeev Jha, along with several party leaders and workers. A large number of slum dwellers participated in the yatra, sharing concerns related to their everyday struggles.

On the occasion, MLA Sanjeev Jha emphasized:

“It is the government’s responsibility to protect the homes and livelihoods of slum residents. This yatra symbolizes the fight of thousands of families who now live in fear of eviction.”

Through this initiative, slum residents were invited to participate in a “Mega Rally” on June 29 at Jantar Mantar, a significant effort to amplify the voice of Delhi’s slum dwellers at the heart of the national capital.

AAP leaders expressed concern that decisions by the Central Government and Municipal Corporation have placed slum communities in grave danger, and that if action is not taken promptly, thousands could be rendered homeless and jobless.

The “Save Homes and Jobs Yatra” will continue in the coming days across other slum areas of Delhi to mobilize more people and strengthen this movement.
