Mahayuti Releases ‘Vachannama’; Promises ₹5 Lakh Loan for Women, Slum-Free Mumbai

Mumbai: Ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, the BJP, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and the NCP alliance Mahayuti on Sunday released its election manifesto, titled ‘Vachannama’. The event was attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and several senior leaders of the alliance. The manifesto outlines a series of major initiatives focused on development, security, and employment to attract Mumbai voters.

According to the Vachannama, women will be provided interest-free loans of up to ₹5 lakh to start their own businesses. The alliance has also pledged to make Mumbai completely slum-free and ensure better housing for city residents. To identify illegal migrants living in the city, Mahayuti has proposed the use of advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said special schemes would be introduced to bring back Marathi people who have migrated out of Mumbai. He also assured the redevelopment of old ‘pagdi’ buildings, aimed at improving living conditions and urban infrastructure.

While releasing the manifesto, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took a swipe at the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction), stating that Mahayuti prioritizes Hindutva and development, not just politics. Referring to the alleged “birth certificate scam,” he said land has already been identified for setting up detention centres for illegal residents and work on the project is progressing rapidly.

Deputy Chief Minister Shinde added that the manifesto serves as a roadmap to take forward the development work carried out by the government over the past three and a half years. He alleged that those who earlier ruled the BMC did little for the city, asserting that Mahayuti is committed to transforming Mumbai’s future and landscape.
