Major Political Shift: Surajbhan Singh Quits NDA, Joins RJD – Wife Beena Devi to Contest from Mokama

Patna (Bihar): Bihar’s political landscape has witnessed yet another major upheaval. Former MP and long-time NDA ally Surajbhan Singh has parted ways with the alliance and officially joined the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). The formal induction took place last night at Tejashwi Yadav’s residence, where Singh was handed the party membership.

After joining the RJD, Surajbhan Singh remarked, “What happened to me in the NDA is no secret.” He also announced that his wife, Beena Devi, will file her nomination today as the RJD candidate from the Mokama Assembly constituency.

The election in Mokama is expected to be particularly intriguing, as Beena Devi is likely to face former strongman MLA Anant Singh, who is now seeking a new political innings.

Just a day earlier, Surajbhan Singh had announced his resignation from Pashupati Paras’s party and the NDA. Soon after, he met Tejashwi Yadav, where he was formally welcomed into the RJD. In photos from the induction event, Tejashwi Yadav can be seen handing over the party membership slip to Singh.

Political observers believe that Surajbhan Singh’s entry into the RJD and Beena Devi’s candidature have made the Mokama seat one of the most closely watched and prestigious contests in the state. The face-off between two families with strong political legacies and past influence has already created a stir in Bihar’s political circles.
