Massive Support for ‘Voter Rights Yatra’ in Bihar, Opposition Leaders Slam Government
Patna (Bihar) : The ‘Voter Rights Yatra’ launched by the INDIA alliance in Bihar is receiving overwhelming public support. Opposition parties have raised sharp questions against the double-engine government and the Election Commission over alleged irregularities.
CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said that the yatra is witnessing stronger responses with each passing day. He alleged that through the SIR process, a conspiracy was hatched to remove nearly 1.5 to 2 crore names from the voters’ list.
“Our demand is that the names which were wrongly deleted must be restored. When elections come, people will use every single vote to strike a blow against this government. The so-called double-engine government has given Bihar double betrayal. It is essential to remove this deceitful government from power and bring change,” Bhattacharya asserted.
RJD Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Kumar Jha added that the response to the yatra is being noticed not only in Bihar but across the country and even internationally. He remarked,
“We had no idea that this journey, which began with outrage against the collusion between the Election Commission and BJP, would grow to such proportions. Today, even children are saying – ‘vote theft, vacate the chair.’ The vote is the biggest fundamental right. If your vote is not secure, neither your present nor your future is safe. In such a situation, the very foundation of democracy collapses. This yatra has changed the entire atmosphere.”
Through the ‘Voter Rights Yatra’, the opposition is aiming to highlight alleged manipulations in the voter list and mobilize public opinion against the government.
