‘Modi Magic’ Shines Again in Maharashtra, Fadnavis Hails BJP’s Historic Win in Civic Polls

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday hailed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) historic performance in the state’s municipal corporation elections, calling it a clear reflection of the people’s unwavering trust in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Fadnavis said the BJP has once again created history in Maharashtra.

Taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister said that in the 2025–26 municipal corporation elections, the BJP delivered an outstanding performance and achieved a landmark victory. He credited the success to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the guidance of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President J.P. Nadda, National Working President Nitin Nabin, Maharashtra BJP President MLA Ravindra Chavan, and the tireless efforts of party workers across the state.

According to Fadnavis, the mandate reflects the public’s strong endorsement of the BJP’s agenda of development, good governance, and progress. He said the results demonstrate that the people of Maharashtra have reaffirmed their faith in the party’s development-oriented vision.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also expressed gratitude to voters for supporting the BJP-led alliance. He said the people have acknowledged the work done by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his government. Shinde added that the verdict clearly shows voters have chosen development over corruption. He further stated that Mumbai will now see the formation of a “triple-engine government”, which will work at an accelerated pace for the city’s overall development.

As counting began on Friday morning, the BJP–Shiv Sena Mahayuti alliance surged ahead in 24 out of 29 municipal corporations across the state, including Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Nagpur.
In the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), early trends showed the BJP–Shiv Sena alliance leading in 116 of the 227 wards, crossing the majority mark of 114 required to form the civic body.

In contrast, the Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) led by Raj Thackeray, who contested the elections as an alliance, were seen trailing in most municipal corporations.

The civic poll results once again underline the strong grip of the BJP and the Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra’s politics, and are being seen as a decisive indicator of the state’s political direction in the coming years.
