MY Bharat Hosts Vibrant International Women’s Day Celebration in Naharlagun; Focuses on Empowerment Through Sports
Naharlagun (Arunachal Pradesh) : To mark International Women’s Day, a high-energy celebration was successfully organized today at the Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Football Ground, Model Village, Naharlagun. Held under the MY Bharat initiative, the event brought together youth, students, and community members to champion the spirit of equality and empowerment. The celebration was graced by Chief Guest Mrs. Mini Bui Gyati, a renowned social worker, actress, and former Miss & Mrs. Top Model India, who emphasized in her address that education, sports, and leadership are the primary pillars for empowering the next generation of women.
Joining her as Special Guests were Mr. Phassang Sama, Principal of GHSS Naharlagun, and Mr. Nada Apa, District Sports Officer, Itanagar. Both officials lauded the MY Bharat platform for its pivotal role in integrating community engagement with youth development, highlighting how such initiatives foster both personal and national growth. The day featured intense athletic competitions showcasing the talent and grit of local participants. Notable results included Tanvja Limbu securing gold in the 100m sprint, while Likha Kompu and Dindo Yagang dominated the 200m and 400m races, respectively.
Distinguished sports personalities, including Mr. Jumpe Maro (PeT), Ms. Tarh Sumpi (Football Coach), and Ms. Yabang Tali (Athlete Coach), were present to mentor and inspire young girls to pursue fitness and professional sports careers. The event was coordinated by Program Coordinator Mr. Bhargav Jyoti Bhuyan, who highlighted the Asmita initiative and the MY Bharat Portal as essential tools for providing youth a stage for nation-building. He noted that these platforms help young women build the confidence necessary to become active societal contributors. The program concluded with a vote of thanks to the volunteers, coaches, and supporting institutions that ensured the event’s grand success.
