NCC to Undergo Major Expansion Across India

New Delhi: On June 3, 2025, Minister of State for Defence Shri Sanjay Seth inaugurated the NCC JS R&A/Deputy Directors’ Conference in Bhopal and announced a planned expansion of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) to include 300,000 new cadets nationwide. Several states have already agreed, and efforts to strengthen training infrastructure are underway. Addressing the gathering, Shri Seth emphasized NCC’s vital role in youth development and nation-building. He highlighted recent initiatives, such as engaging ex-servicemen as instructors, offering them new employment opportunities. He praised NCC’s active involvement in national campaigns like Swachh Bharat, Nasha Mukt Bharat, and Naya Savera.

He congratulated the NCC mountaineering team for their successful Mt. Everest expedition on May 18, 2025, calling it a testament to cadets’ courage and determination. NCC Director General Lt. Gen. Gurbirpal Singh outlined plans for improved training infrastructure and greater youth participation. Senior officials and NCC leaders from all states attended the event.
