Nitish Kumar Set to Form Government Again in Bihar; Elected Leader of NDA Legislature Party — Grand Swearing-In Ceremony Tomorrow at Gandhi Maidan

Patna (Bihar): Following the historic victory of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was once again elected as the leader of the NDA Legislature Party today. With this, the path is clear for him to take oath as Chief Minister for the 10th time. He will take the oath of office and secrecy at a grand ceremony scheduled for November 20 at Gandhi Maidan.
Along with Nitish Kumar, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha will be sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers. Ministers from other alliance partners will also take oath during the event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union Ministers, and Chief Ministers of BJP and NDA-ruled states are expected to attend the ceremony. The administration is making extensive preparations for the event.
Nitish Kumar Re-elected as JDU Legislature Party Leader
Earlier on Wednesday, during a meeting of the JDU Legislature Party held at Nitish Kumar’s residence in Patna, he was unanimously chosen as the leader. After the meeting, JDU MP Sanjay Jha and Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh congratulated him.
Meanwhile, in the BJP Legislature Party meeting, Samrat Choudhary was elected leader and Vijay Sinha deputy leader.
NDA’s Historic Victory in the Bihar Elections
In the 2025 elections, the NDA registered a sweeping victory. Winning 202 out of 243 seats, the alliance secured more than a three-fourths majority. This is the second time the NDA has crossed the 200-seat mark — the earlier record being 206 seats in 2010.

JDU: 85 seats
LJP (Ram Vilas): 19 seats
Hindustani Awam Morcha: 5 seats
Rashtriya Lok Morcha: 4 seats
Weak Performance by the Opposition
The opposition Mahagathbandhan managed to win only 35 seats.
RJD: 25 seats
Congress: 6 seats
CPI (ML): 2 seats
IIP: 1 seat
CPI (M): 1 seat
With this decisive mandate and renewed political stability, Bihar is moving towards the formation of a new government. The swearing-in ceremony at Gandhi Maidan tomorrow will mark the beginning of a new political chapter for the state.
