Nitish Kumar Sworn In as Bihar Chief Minister for a Record 10th Time; PM Modi and Amit Shah in Attendance

Patna :  JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a historic 10th time on Thursday at the iconic Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Alongside him, 19 ministers were also sworn in. The grand ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President J.P. Nadda, and several senior leaders of the NDA. Chief Ministers of multiple NDA-ruled states were also present for the occasion.
A day earlier, on Wednesday, Nitish Kumar had resigned from the post of Chief Minister and subsequently staked claim to form a new government before Governor Arif Mohammed Khan.
As the new cabinet takes shape, the NDA is focusing on ensuring balanced representation. Apart from BJP and JD(U), other alliance partners may also receive ministerial berths, with a likely formula of one minister for every six MLAs.
The newly elected Bihar Legislative Assembly will convene for a three-day session starting November 26, during which the Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be elected and new members will take oath.
Notably, the NDA made a strong comeback in Bihar by securing 202 out of 243 seats in the Assembly elections. BJP won 89 seats, JD(U) secured 85, LJP (RV) got 19, HAM(S) bagged 5, and RLM won 4 seats.
