Not CRPF, Delhi Police to Provide Security to CM Rekha Gupta

New Delhi: A major decision has been taken regarding the security arrangements of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The central government has clarified that instead of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), it will be the Delhi Police that provides her security.

According to sources, a proposal had been sent seeking Z-category security for the Chief Minister, with the possibility of CRPF deployment. However, after a review meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs, it was decided that, for now, Delhi Police’s special unit will handle her security.

Reports suggest that the security wing of Delhi Police is already making special arrangements at the Chief Minister’s residence and on her travel routes. Additional personnel and advanced equipment will also be deployed to enhance the security cover.

A shocking revelation has emerged regarding the recent attack on CM Rekha Gupta. According to sources, a man named Rajesh Sakariya had planned to stab her.

Rajesh Sakariya, a 41-year-old resident of Rajkot, Gujarat, has been arrested by police. During interrogation, he confessed that he planned the August 20 attack because his appeal—not to remove stray dogs from Delhi—was allegedly ignored by Rekha Gupta.

Following the incident, the central government had temporarily provided her Z-category CRPF security. However, official sources now confirm that this security has been withdrawn and the responsibility has once again been handed over to Delhi Police.

Sources added that Delhi Police’s special unit has been instructed to further tighten security arrangements. Additional security personnel will be deployed at the Chief Minister’s residence and public gatherings. It is learned that while an order for enhanced CRPF security was initially being prepared, it was later reversed, and orders for withdrawal were issued.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police has arrested two people so far, including the prime accused, Rajeshbhai Khimji Sakariya. The 41-year-old, an auto-rickshaw driver from Rajkot, allegedly attacked CM Rekha Gupta during a public hearing. Investigators believe the attack stemmed from his anger over the stray dog issue.

Political circles suggest that handing over responsibility to Delhi Police instead of CRPF reflects the central government’s effort to maintain coordination between state and central agencies while balancing security priorities.
