PM Modi Launches Plantation Drive on World Environment Day, Strengthens ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Initiative

New Delhi : On World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a plantation drive at Bhagwan Mahaveer Vanasthali Park in Delhi, planting a sapling under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative. This marks a major step in the Aravalli Green Wall Project, aimed at restoring forest cover across the Aravalli mountain range. Highlighting the ecological importance of the ancient Aravalli range, which spans Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi, the PM emphasized tackling environmental challenges in the region. He announced that along with traditional methods, modern planting technologies will be adopted, especially in urban and semi-urban areas facing space constraints. Plantation activities will be geo-tagged and monitored through the Meri LiFE portal. PM Modi urged the youth to actively participate in enhancing India’s green cover.

In a post on X, he wrote, “On World Environment Day, I planted a tree in Delhi as part of our mission to rejuvenate the Aravallis and honour our mothers through nature.”
