Police Issue Major Statement on Crime Control and Anti-Terror Operations

Patna (Bihar) :  The Bihar Police Headquarters has shared key information regarding effective control over crime and terrorism in the state. Officials stated that around 1,400 criminals have been identified for the seizure of illegally acquired properties, and legal proceedings are currently underway against nearly 700 of them. The police added that this drive will be intensified further from the New Year.

The Police Headquarters informed that continuous monitoring was carried out at the headquarters level during all major festivals. Although the police faced challenges at some locations, all festivals were conducted peacefully due to vigilant and proactive policing.

The police also highlighted their performance during the Assembly elections. A total of 1,650 companies of security forces were deployed during the elections. Despite significant challenges, the elections were conducted smoothly, peacefully, and successfully.

To counter terrorism, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) remains on high alert. The ATS regularly conducts reconnaissance of sensitive installations. During the year, reconnaissance and mock drills were carried out at 41 such locations. The capacity of the Bomb Disposal Squad has also been enhanced, with its strength increased from one unit to two units.

The ATS is also keeping a strict watch on social media platforms. In 2025, 176 individuals were identified for allegedly posting content that appeared anti-national. Action is currently being initiated against five of them.

Significant steps have also been taken to strengthen police training. This year, 176 police personnel were trained at NSG Manesar and NSG Kolkata. In addition, commando courses are being conducted at NSG Manesar.

To further strengthen the ATS, the Director General of Police has sent a proposal to the Home Department to establish regional ATS units in Patna, Gaya, Motihari, Darbhanga, and Purnia. Additionally, one officer and one constable will be posted in every police station with the specific responsibility of collecting intelligence related to terrorism.

The ATS has also launched public outreach programmes aimed at strengthening patriotic values among the youth.

In view of the New Year, the Police Headquarters is issuing guidelines to all police stations. The focus will be on increasing police visibility on roads, enhancing patrolling, and providing assistance to the general public. The police aim to ensure that people do not fear visiting police stations and are treated with sensitivity and support.

Security arrangements have also been strengthened in border areas, where the police are working jointly with the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Special Branch and intelligence agencies are also extending support in these operations.

Senior police officials stated that security measures will be further reinforced in the coming days to maintain peace, law and order, and public confidence across the state.
