Political Storm Erupts Over Businessman Gopal Khemka’s Murder in Patna, Opposition Slams Government, BJP Defends
New Delhi/Patna: The brutal murder of renowned businessman Gopal Khemka in Bihar’s capital Patna has triggered a major political uproar. The incident has raised serious questions about the state’s law and order situation. While the opposition launched scathing attacks on the Nitish Kumar-led government, BJP leaders assured strict action against the culprits.
Congress Leader Akhilesh Prasad Singh’s Sharp Attack
Speaking from Delhi, senior Congress leader Akhilesh Prasad Singh said, “There is no trace of law and order left in Bihar. Murders are taking place at every major intersection in Patna, yet the government remains indifferent. The administration appears to be asleep. Gopal Khemka was a respected businessman and personally known to me. A few years ago, his son was also murdered. I visited their home back then. I was shocked to hear about his killing. If Nitish Kumar were in the right mental state, he would have resigned on moral grounds. He has left 8 crore people to the mercy of fate.”
RJD MP Manoj Jha: “No Government Exists, Criminals Rule”
RJD MP Manoj Jha expressed deep concern and remarked, “There is no sign of a functioning government in Bihar anymore. Criminals now believe the state belongs to them. It’s shameful to see what Bihar has become.”
Congress MP Manoj Kumar: “Worse Than Jungle Raj”
Manoj Kumar, Congress MP from Sasaram, condemned the incident and said, “Those who accuse others of Jungle Raj should be asked what kind of governance allows such a murder to happen late at night in the capital? The government has completely failed, and the administration is a mute spectator. Criminals are emboldened, and such incidents are occurring daily. I express my condolences to the Khemka family and am deeply saddened.”
BJP Leader Guru Prakash Defends Government
BJP leader Guru Prakash refuted the opposition’s allegations and said, “The government is closely monitoring the situation. The Chief Minister, both Deputy CMs, and top officials have taken note of the incident. Strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty. Comparing this to Jungle Raj is unfair. This is not the era when crimes were state-sponsored or protected. Those were the days when even the Patna High Court declared there was no rule of law. Today’s situation is vastly different.”
BJP MP Ramkripal Yadav: “A Challenge for Governance”
BJP MP Ramkripal Yadav called the incident a serious governance challenge and said: “Gopal Khemka was not only a businessman but also a social worker. His family said that police arrived late at the crime scene. Sadly, his daughter was also murdered six years ago. The government must take this matter seriously.”
The killing of Gopal Khemka has clearly reignited the debate over law and order in Bihar, with the opposition questioning the government’s ability to ensure public safety and the ruling party promising justice. The political heat is expected to rise further in the coming days.
