Pratik Gandhi Expresses Disappointment Over Postponement of Film ‘Phule’

New Delhi: Pratik Gandhi’s upcoming film Phule has been making headlines recently. Based on the lives and significant contributions of social reformers Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule, the film was initially slated for release on April 11. However, due to objections raised by members of the Brahmin community over a particular scene in the trailer, the release has now been postponed by two weeks.

Addressing the controversy, actor Pratik Gandhi clarified that the film’s intention is not to hurt the sentiments of any community, but rather to present a true and inspiring story to the public.

Commenting on the delay, Gandhi said, “I was on a shoot location when I received the news about the release date being pushed. It made me really sad because April 11 marks the 179th birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule. It was a special date for us. If the film had released on that day, it would have been historic. But perhaps everything happens for a reason—maybe for the better.”

He further emphasized that the film is purely meant to highlight the extraordinary work of the Phule couple and does not aim to offend anyone. “The filmmakers have been asked to make some changes, but the core message of the film remains intact. Some people raised objections based solely on the trailer, and I urge them to watch the entire film before forming opinions. The trailer does not provide full context,” he added.

Phule is now scheduled to release on April 25. The film is directed by Ananth Mahadevan.
